Your perspective depends on where your focus has been. I have been in a funk, to say the least. I’ve been focusing on my pain and how it interferes with my best intentions. I decided to get back to starting my days with my workout. Getting out early in the mornings to watch the sunrise on my walks has blessed me deeply and just what my soul needed.
This morning I was trying to get a good shot of the sunrise. I snapped one after the sun had fully made its way over the mountain, and it was ba-RIGHT! You know how after looking right at the sun you see spots? When I looked back down at the ground before me, I saw beautiful iridescent colors. It was so vivid and beautiful that I had to keep checking around me to see if someone had actually painted it that way. If you swipe over to my boring photo of the road, you’ll see plain grey with little sun bleached white pebbles. What I saw as I took this photo was beautiful, shiny pinks and blues.
I had been focusing on the sun, so it skewed my perspective in the most beautiful way.
I had already been starting my day with my “coffee with God” time, but felt pulled to do this instead. I wondered if I’d feel guilty putting off my Bible time until after. God has reassured me that getting out and seeing and experiencing His creations and majesty is one thing that delights me most… and He’s delighted that I enjoy Him so.
What do you need to change in order to shake up your view on things a bit?
